The Chairman's Message

On behalf of my wife, Sylvia, and my entire family, please allow me to greet you all a very happy, progressive, and greener New Year. Undoubtedly, that resuscitating sense of renewal, of rekindled hopes and aspirations, as well as that re-awakened feeling of hope for a better year ahead, is once again “reborn” within us.

You will notice, in the pages of this calendar, that, this year, the Lina Group of Companies embarked on a new journey of commitment for the environment. We have decided to devote time, attention and resources to helping reduce our carbon footprints and delve more deeply into our country’s greening program. This decision came at the wake of last year’s devastating typhoons where we were all affected, directly or indirectly. All of us became victims of the effects of people’s indifference, uncaring attitude, and wanton use of natural resources. And we wish for our children and those after them never to have to experience the same again.

We have taken a few early steps to achieve this objective, our new corporate social responsibility project. We have replaced our light bulbs to LED types; we have sustained our campaign to turn off lights and air conditioning units during lunch breaks; we have formulated development plans to convert idle agricultural lands into nurseries and planting areas for which we have even organized a full-time group for these other energy saving and reduction programs in the future. On a larger scale, we have also invested our resources into developing renewable energy systems that sustain these efforts and help create alternative sources of energy for a longer period of time.

Yes, we have gone beyond mere corporate interests. We have ventured into a life-sustaining and life-enhancing program.

We hope that you would devise similar programs in your own homes or offices. Lets all help our country in this effort, even if, only in small measures. To paraphrase the oft-repeated saying – rather than curse the darkness, the time has come to light our candles and brighten our world.

We are at the threshold of another promising year because of your continued and loyal patronage to our products and services. We thank you for this and especially the trust you have given us as your partner. Even in our environmental efforts we hope you too can share some of your time and resources to help Mother Nature to get back on its feet faster.
