Higanteng Magilas scouts future basketball champs
MANILA, Philippines -- A brood of tall and promising young basketbolistas ages 8 to 12 years old are yet to be one of the greatest contributions of the Lina Group to the Philippine basketball scene through its newest sports venture, Higanteng Magilas.
“I see the talents as the players representing the Philippine Team in the 16 and under tournaments and are all playing in top school team in the UAAP or the NCAA”, says Higanteng Magilas Project Director Allan Gregorio.
Higanteng Magilas is a point guard academy that will enhance and develop young basketbolistas who possess the height advantage. The program will groom these kids to be the next pride of the Philippines.
The discipline of basketball as a sport is a great contribution to the development of our young Filipino basketbolistas. Aside from self-leadership, basketball is an avenue to enhance competitiveness, social-adeptness, and healthy lifestyle.
Gregorio looks forward in marking a legacy by teaching young athletes “to learn to perceive, dream big, compete and adjust to the teamwork involved in their daily lives, and aspire not just in basketball but as leaders in their chosen field.”
Higanteng Magilas will tour the Philippines to gather the basketbolistas who will soon bring home the much-awaited achievements of our land.
Higanteng Magilas officially launched on 19 January 2012 at DonKen Resto & Bar in Taguig City. It is supported by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Philippine Basketball Association, Burger King, NLEX Road Warriors, Voit, MVP Sports Foundation, Smart Sports, and Maynilad. It is presented by AIR21 and UBE Media.
